Young Shannon Couple Wed At Palmerston North

On a beautiful afternoon recently the wedding was solemnised in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Churcn, Palmerston North, by Rev. - J. Hubbard, M.A., B.D., of Beryl, second daughter of Mr. an'd Mrs. D. A. Coley, Okuku Road, Shannon, , and Wllliam Angus, ifourth son of Mr. and Mrs. A: T. Third, Vance -Street Shannon. ' The guests were shown to their. seats by Mr, Frank Hob.bs, of Shannon. « To appropriate music played by Mr. Allen, the bride, escorted by her fa'ther and her cousin, Miss Sybil Hyde, - of Marton, walked- up the aisle to join the waiting bride - groom and the bestman, Mr. George T. Thirfl, the bfidegroom's brother. For this important occasion the bride wore a beautiful gdWn of off white embossed satin, fashioned with a train rounded at the sides and shaped in to a point at the centre. The neckline of the gathered bodice with its long sleeves was similarly shaped. Tiny buttons trimmed the ' sleeves and back of the bodice,. and a bow finished tne half belt at the centre back waistline. A coronet of orange blossoms held in piace a long scalloped edged net veil appliqued with satin tulips. The bri'degroom's gift of a triple row of pearls and a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemums and nerines completed a charmmg ensemble. The bridesmaid wore a ground length lemon taffeta frock. The skirt was full and the tight fittlng bodice was attractively finished with tiny green velvet bows down the front. Similar bows ornamented the drawn up edges of the elbow length sleeves. Green velvet ribbon tied her shower bouquet of autumn shaded flowers, and matching flowers held in place a shoulder length green net veil; She also wore pearls and the bridegroom's gift of a gold brooch. Mr. Noel Jennings sang "I'll Walk Beside You" while the register was being signed and as the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with three decorated horseshoes by .Lois .Coley, Noeiene Jennings and Margafet Hobbs, her sister and niece and the bridegroom's niece respectively. The reception folloWing' took place in the Coronation Hall, Terrace End, where the parents of the bride, assisted by the' parents of the bridegroom, receive'd the guests. Mrs. Coley wore a navy floral frock, a wine coat and hat,brown accessories and a floral spray and Mrs. Third a mid-green frock with gold trimmings, a fur coat, black hat and accessories and a spray of autumn shaded flowers and berries. Mr. Noel Jennings was toastmaster and he sang at appropriate times when the toasts were honoured. Used by the bridal party were beautiful crystal goblets over 100 years old, which had been given to the bride's mother by an old friend, Mrs. R. Miller, of Tokomaru, and used previously at the wedding of the bride's sister. Gracing the bridal table was a white iced twotiered cake decorated with a bell tower. When the happy couple left later by car for the North to spend their honeymoon, Mrs. Third Was wearing a rose shaded suit and hat, and brown accessories. Many gifts and cheques were received by the young1 couple for use in their farm home at Okuku Road, Shannon. One gift of particular interest was a Chinese treasure chest sent from Hong Kong by a Chinese school pen friend with whom the bride had corresponded for over ten years.
