Maori Singer's Progress
One New Zealander who has grown to love London in the twelve months he has been there is Inia Te Wiata, the promising Maori bass-singer, who is studying at the: Trinity .College of' Music. , "At first I was very homesick," Inia told a friend, "but now I really love London. Of epurse it is very hai'd -being away from my wife and children, but my work keeps me busy 'and happy." Inia ls delighted with the progress he has made in the past 12 months. "My range1 and volume have increased consra-| erably," he said, "altho.ugh it stilli amazes - me the amount there is to i learn in music." In his spare time Inia is a very frequent visitor to concerts and recitals at the Royal Albert Hali and like musical centres, where he can satisfy his avid zest for learning. 'Recently he was gratified to he allowed to make his first public appearance, when he entertained a gatrhering at the Royai Empire Society. He looks forward to his next 12 months in London, after which he goes to Milan to study opera. _
