New Opponent For President Truman

Senator Claude Pepper, oi: Florida, announced last night that he is a eandidate for the Deinocratic Presidential nomination in opposition to President Truman. Oceupving headquarters once used by tlie baekers of the abortive boom for General Eisenhower, a seven-member committee put forward Pepper 7s name. Senator Pepper said: "Many delegates have been looking for someone to represent the prinniples of Franklia Roosevelt. Thev have been looking for a man to express these principles. I aecept. " He said he.had good hope of winning and was confident the liberals in the convention .would flock to him.
