Giant Hydro Plant Delayed At Levin
The specially imported 48-tpn pieee of plant de^tined for thc Sunnythorpe Hydro-Electj.'ic Sta- 1 tion, to which it is being conveyed by rail, has been held up at Levin.' ,The trouble lies in negotiating the hybr&iits qn the subsidiary lin6| Where the engines take in watey, as the arm of the structiy.'e piptrudes over; ;th§ linp. Twoh'hfW these hydrants, one at each end of the railway yards, hlopk the progress qf the high and bulky equipment, so this morning a mobile c'rane was employed to assist, in the dismantling * of the obtrufiing arms, a task that will OGCupy some time. The only alternative route is via the main line, but the protruding platform of the Levin station prevents the equipment from being taken this way. , . An attempt will be made to bring the plant through Levin tomorrow, but as 'the speed of the engine puiljng it is restriGted by the weight of its* load to eight miles an hour, a time will have to be chosen when the line is free ' of other traffic before it continues its journey. It is probable,- therefore, that this will be done on Sunday. Another sjmilar piece of plant is being loajled'at P'aekakariki and w)ll be following behind.
