Personal Mr. and Mrs. Ray, who have.. .been farming at Otauru Road for. a number of years, have left to take over a farm at Linton. Mr. I. V. Gadsby has taken over the' farm vacate'd by Mr. Ray. ' ' Card Winners The weekly card evening conducted on Friday evening in Laurvig's Hall by the local branch of the Labour Party continues to attract a good gathering of players. The prize-winners last week Were Mr. Re'dshaw and Mrs. G. Simpson. Qpild Flower Show The Gardening Circle of the Opiki Women's Institute, at a recent meeting, revised the sehedule for its daffodil show which will be held in the Opiki Hall 'during September. It was "also decided to hold a rose show in February. Expensive Beach House v A house which was recently removed from Palmerston North aird re-erected at Foxton Beach has been sold for £1100 as a weekend cottage. Although the price seems very high, the new owner is satisfied with his purchase. Friendly Football In the report of a friendly football match between the Albion Hotel, Shannon, and the Prince of Wales Hotel, Wellington, publishe'd yesterday it was stated that the first try was scored by S. Chester and C. Mortimer failed to convert, This, however, was incorrect as Rauhihi scored the try and D. Pedersen attempted the goal. Stray Dogs Stray dogs are still causing a nuisance in the main streets of the town. Their presence endangers the public in as much that passing motorists swerve to avoid them and they distract the attentaon of motorists. Local drivers, however, are more concerned at removing 'them by their own method. It is hoped that an eifort will be made by the authorities to have them removed from the streets.
