MR. CHIFLEY IN BERLIN

Reeeived Monday, 10.45 a.m. " LONDON, July 11. The Australian Prime Minister, Mr. Chifley, arrived in Berlin by air from London for an eight-hour visit during which he will make a tour of inspection -of the city, visit Allied and German officials and confer with the Australian military mission. He was greeted on arrival by Major-General Brownjohn, British Depu.y Military Governor, MajorGeneral Herbert, British Commandant in Berlin, and the heads of the Dominions' military missions. Major-General Brownjohn, in welcoming Mr. Chifley, said he was the flrst Allied Premier to Visit Germany since Potsdam. He added that the visit indicated the interest of the Dominions in the Western Allied occupation. Mr. Chifley 'had afternoon tea with Berlin's political leaders.
