Reeeived Monday, 11.15 a.m, LONDON, July 11. The Berliiv crisis has assumed grimmer aspects in-the past 24 hours and the British Military- Goverclor, General Sir Brian Robertson, is flyin'g t'rom Berlin to London today— a day earlier than was originally arranged. General Robertson will make a first-hand report to the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Ernest Bevin, who was remaining in London for the weekend to study the latest developments. General Robertson is diie to return to Berlin on July 13.
Tlie tension in Berlin has notably increased by the British and American refusal to accept the latest Russian restrictions on road travei between Berlin and the West, aird by Russian complaints thht British and American 'food plants are violating the air safety regulations. A good de'al of significance is being attached in London to the lact that General Robertson will, among other officials, see Sir Percy Hoilis, chief staff offlcer to the Defence Ministry. The Russian-controlled Press in Berlin is hinting that Moscow might demand new Four-Power talks on the whole German problem as the price for lifting the Berlin squeeze. One Russian-licensed German paper said the Western Allies nntst show goodwill' by withdrawing their new German currency. The Polish Press declared today tliat only full Four Power cooperation could solve the Berlin problem. Leading newspapers recommended to the Western Allies that the. Warsaw conference recommendations tirging a quick Four Power conclave and the "creation of an all-German Government.
