Native School And Hostel Taken Over
It was reported to the Diocesan Synod, which is holding its annual meeting in Wellington this week, by the trustees of the- Otaki and Porirua ' College Trust Board, that the Education Department had taken over the Native College hostel arid school buildings, and a portion of the groun'ds, for a period of 21' years. It is un'derstood the Cofresporidence School is to have the use of the property and that groups of children will be congregated there from time to time. Refresher courses for' teachers is another contemplated activity. Before these changes take place, however, substantial alterations are to be effected to the present buildings. Shoul'd the Trust Board at any time in the future desire to reestablish a school, it retains the right to repossess the premises by pa'yment of compensation on one year's nptice.
