Shed Built Without Permit
Charged with ereeting, without first obtaining' a permit, a shed 18 ft. by 12 ft., G. A., J. Fox, painter and paperhanger, of Levin, Was fined £7 10s when he appqared in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, yesterday. Court ' costs were 10s. Defendant, who was represented by Mr. N. M. Thomson, entered a plea of guilty. . Appearing for the Building Cohtroller, Mr, G. I. McGregor, of Palmerston North, stated that in 1947 defendant had laid down a cement foundatibn for the. shed. He could not say if there were any restrictions on the use of cement at that particular period, continued Mr. McGregor, but defendant had. writ-? ten to the controller saying he de'sired to erect a shed over the foundation in second hand timber. He had received a reply that if a permit was sought it would be coasi'dered, but that the controller would first require to> inspect the timber. No application for a permit had foliowed and it was found that i defendant had slnce feuilt the shed. Asked by the "magistrate, Mr. H. J. Thompson,' if the timber used had been second hand, Mr. McGregor repliefi that the largest percentage was second hand.': His Client had not built the shed as a gayage, said> Mr. N. M.
