Many Violent Deaths During July 4 Weekend
NEW YORK, July 6. In one of the rnost balmy and sultrv Independence Day weekends in the nation 's history, over 550 persons met death by violent aecident. Tralfic fatalities totalled 296 — 61 more than the 'Xational Bafety Council had predieted — drownings accounted for 184, and the rest were killed in tragedies ranging from flreworks explosions to accidental electrocutions. The entire nation 's airways and highwavs werii jammed as millions ewarmed to the beaghes and holiday resorts and millions more thronged the cities.
