Arrangements Made For Rep. Mr. Cole w^s appointed manager 6f the team. Mr. Oliver informed the meetihg that it was fairiy certai'n that B. McCashin, of ffui Mai, the captaih of the' team, would be unable to play. In this event it was probable that G. Milroy, of Wanderers, would replace him in the forwards. Colts' Galne at Levin Plans were also completed for the game betweeh Hofowhehua ahd Manawatu Colts, to be jpiayed at the Levin Park Domain on Saturday next. It was decided that' Horowhenua players find their own way to the ground and the union pay them reasonabie expenses. Jerseys and shorts will be supplied py the union and players are to obtain their gate passes from the manager at the gate either at 1.15 p.m. or 2 p.m. These must be*refcained to gain entry to the grandstand. Mr. Macdonald was appaintc.d manager of the teahi. Mr. Oliver mentioried that in the event of G. Milroy being transferred to the A teaih his place ih the Colts' team would probably be filied by Bond, of Athletic. It was also reported to the meeting that N^ Fee, of Shannon would be unable to take the field o'wing to illness. Other Rep. Fixtures' \ The Wellington RUgby Union Wrote poiriting out that it was piaying Horowhenua seniors at .Levin on Septembei4 25, ahd asked if Horowhenua could meet its team at Lower Hut't on September 4. This , was ' agreed to. • A ' letter from the Cehturians Football Olub expressed' regret that it would be unable to play a match in Levin this season, but expressed its willingness to do so next year if an invitation was extended. Confir'mation was received from the]fBu-h RUjgby Upion that it could play'"' the " junior' "repfesentative match for the GiUespie Cup, at present held by Horowhenua, at Levin cn July 31. This was 'accepted ahd mentidn made of the fact that this would .be the day of the Wanderers-Hui Mai game in the thifd round of. the chumpionship,. so that a good's day football would be provided. Member Resigns A letter was read from Mr. Carrington asking that his resignation from the committee ahd the positions held by him be accepted. Surprise was expressed by the ehairman, who asked Mr. Carrington if he would care to tell the V.O— nutcee Q the reuson for his acuion. Mr. Carrington said he did not desire to make any comment. The committee would receive the resignation with regretf, commented the ehairman, Mr. Carrington had given a great deal to the cause of Rugby, he added, and the loss of his services would be a severe one to the game. Appreciation of Mr. Carrington's work was recorded and his resignation accepted with regret. Mr. Fullarton was appointed in his place to act as treasurer until the end of the year and Mr. Wilkinson as joint trustee with Mr. Fullarton. Manakau Ground Exception had been taken by the owner of the ground at Manakau to comments made at a recent meeting of the committee, and published in the Press,* said Mr. Oliver. "fhe particular comment was that which had inferred that something was buried in the ground when actuaily this was not sO. A bull had pawed a hole in the ground but it had been filled in at the commencement of the season. Then again the week prior to the match on which the remark had been made, the bull had dug the hole out again. The owner had filled it in the morning of"the game, and had run his tractor over ih to. consolidate the soil, added Mr. Oliver. The comipittee expressed its appreciation of the-owner's action in making the ground available and of the assistance he was rendering to football by doing so. MisCellaneous Matters In the past the New Zealand Rugby tfnion had made grants to priniary schools to cover, travelling expenSes to tOUtnaments, but had "now decided to cease this assistance, reported Mr. Wiseley. Headded that schools would, therefore, have -to pay their own expenses and it was regrettable. A postponement committee comprising Messrs. Fullarton, Wiseley, Haley and Wilkinson was appointed to decide whether fixtures should be cancelled when the weather* was adverse. He had been asked by Mr. G. Sciascia if the union would permit school teams to play midgets' matches during half -time at Saturday games on the Levin Park Domain, said Mr. Wilkinson. The meeting approved the suggestion. Primary Schools' _ Rugby Union acknowledged receipt of 30 footballs donated by the union to schools of the distriGt. It expressed appreciation of this generous help. The Levin Borough Co\mcil wrote drawirlg attention to acts of vandalism whicli had occurred on the Levin Park Domain. The door to the grandstand had been broken open and the gas uhder the sta.id had been left, turned oh. It Wfts resolved to take action to prevent a recurrence of the matters raised.
