HOLD-UP OF FOOD-LADEN BARGES.
Received Mondav, 7 -p.m. LONDON, Julv 5. Aecording to bargemen arriving at Lnuenburg in the British Zone of Ger niany, barges loaded with food from Hamburg for Beriin are blocking the Elbe River port of Wittenberge in the Soviet Zone, says Reuter 7s Beriin correspondent. Tlie bargemen had to surrendel- all papers and the Russians forbade the erews to leave tlie barges. The Russians are aiso repofted to be hokling the ma.jority of barges returning empty from Beriin to the British Zone. The railwaymen 7s trade union which is indopendent of the Commmiistdomitiated trades union organisation, decided that members imemplove.d as a result of the Russian restrictions shoiild volunteer to help repair the BerlinIlelinstedt line.
