DUNEDIN, July 4. At the end of the ninth round in the New "Zealand draughts championship on Saturday, the Auckland player, . M. TJare, was leading by a narrow margin ! from D. Lowry (Christchurch) and J". •Dowie (Christchurch). Hare has never competed in Dominion championships before, but last year he won the handicap section in the North Island tournament. The position of the players at the conelusion of the ninth round is: — Hare 13, Lowry and Dowie 121, Duncan 11-1, Bolton, Ramsay and O'Mallev 101, Hutcliins and .Tohnstone 9|, Wilson and Davis 9, Meldr-uin and Graliam 84, Mclver 7. Moore 6. Three games to play: Tibbles and Prinee 6, Carey 5, Anderson 11.
