United Nations Appeal The recent appeal for children made by the United Nations was well responded to by the citizens of Shannon and 'district. The local treasurer of the appeal,- Mr. J. T. Bovis, advises that the total amout received by him from the district amounted to £351 11s 8d. Borough Revenue The town cierk, Mr. J. T. Bovis, advise'd members of the Shannon Borough' Council at their receiit meeting that during the month of June cash received totall6d-£1072 6s lOd, which included £322 3s 2d from heavy trafflc fees, £498 0s lld from current rates, £66 5s 8d from the heavy traffic pool and £185 17s Id from sundry receipts. Old Landmark Goes A once farhiliar site, the old tree on the roadside at the foot of Crowther's Hill, on the MangaoreShannon highway, has fallen victim to a-bulldozei^ as work on the highway continues. The right angle corner at the foot of the hill will be replaced with a gradual curve. The fencing of the new road nas already been eompleted and the forming of the curve will De commenced shortly.
