Severe Rationing To Save Coal

The) use of gas fires will he hanned froni midnight tonight and the use of gas for cooking and water heating will be restricted to three periods daily ranging from a half hoiu: to two houts. The yictorian Cahinet decided to cancel all suburban train services on Satur day and Sunday ahd cut services oh other days from 10 to\l5 per cent. Passenger services will he cut anothef ten per cent. and goods services 25 per ceiit. from Monday. Gas rationing will be inteilsified from midnight tonight. Suburban train services in West Australia have "been cut by 50 per cent. ahd other rail services will also be reduced. Gas and electricity cuts ar6 also threatened.
