Personal . • Mr. G. S. Beer, assistant-secretary of the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Company, has been admitted to the New Zealand, Society- of Accountants as an Associate Registered Accountant (A.R.A.N.Z.) . Mr. Beer completed the aecouiiiants' professionai- examination at the special examination for ex-servlcemen held in March. Historic Film Tne headmaster of the* local school, Mr. F. O. Burtt, advised that through the generosity of the management. of the Renown Theatre, ali school children were given the opportunity of seeing the nistorical' film of the Royal wedding. The film, stated Mr. Burtt, was of outstandmg educational value. Record Collection of Rates The town clerk, Mr. J. T. Bovis, advised members of the Shannon Borough Council at their meeting on Tuesday evening that aithough the raie demands were only issued on June 16, up to June 29 the sum of £498 0s lld had been collected. This, stated Mr. Bovis, was -very satisfactory and an ■ outstandmg achievement by local ratepayers. Street Light to be Shifted Speaking - at the fortnightly meeting of the Shannon Borough CounciT on Tuesday evening, Cr. H. Aitchison stated that he had a conf m:ence with a member of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board with regard to having the street light at the Ballance and Margaret Street intersection piaeed in a more suitable position. it was estimated .that the c-ost would be £10 and, on Cr. Aitchison's motion, authority was granted to proceed with the work. .
