Chateau Tongariro Reopens In August
. . j WET.LINGTON, June 21. The Chateau Tongariro will reopen on August. 20 under the management of klr. ]j. .T. Bayfield and several nrembers of the former statf will again be emploved. Anuouncing this today, the iMinister of Tourist and Health Resorts, Mr. W. E. Parrv, said the renovation and refurnishing of the Chateau was expected to be finished early in August and Ihe Department would accept bookings from those intending to visit Tongariro National Rark as from August 20. While structurql extensions to the liotel had not been possible, the Department had eompleted a consider able amount of work in the restoration of the water supply and improvements to the interior and exterior of the bqilding to the extent where it could rightftillv be described as a first class tourist hotel.
