Bovls, advises that the total amount received to date in the Unitecl Nations Appeal for Children is' £344 11s 8d, with donations still coming to hand, A reminder is. given that the appeal closes tomorrow, and any persons wishing to make contributions would assist by doing so before this date. Delay in State Houses Speaking at the forfnightly meeting of the Shannon Borougn Council on Tuesday evenlng, Crs. B. Clayton and V. J. Bateman reported on their interview with the district supervisor of the Department of Housing Construction. The delay in completing the four units on the corner of Ballance and Margaret Streets, especially the two with roofs on, were. placed before Tiim. The supervisor said that the delay was on account of roofing materials and drainage, but an officer would be sent to Shannon to confer with the contractor, with.a view to having an ear'ly completion of the dwellings, and .would write *the council when the report was received.
