"We want to extend our spliere of contacts," h.e said, "but there is 110 question of dropping old friends for new. Thakin Nu ^^*as not trying to follow the Communist ideology. Thakin Nii's programme will not infringe the Anglo-Burmese treaty. Commuiiists won't be included in the Chbinet but the Gdvernnient won't object to Communism. . There should be freedom and we shall adhere to democratic procedure. " U. Tin Tut said Communism implied revolution whereas Burma was in a state of evolutionary Soeialism. Thakin Nu would resign 011 July 20 and his logical successor ivas the Deputy Premier Bo Let Yar Bu. The matter was entirely up to Parliament. U. Tin Tut said" there was 110 alignment with the Soviet or any particular Power. If there were difficulties in operating the Anglo-. Burmese agreenient Burma would seek alterations. There was no idea of denouncing the agreenient. Under Thakin Nu's programme the Goyernment would compensate foreign'ers for property it took over. The Premier hoped to see his programme "in some shape" within six months, but the ainis were generally longterm.
