Car Collides With Small Girl Cyclist

When the bicycle she was riding along the Village Settlement section of the Main Road, Weraroa, was struck by a passing car, Elsie Edith Dowd, 'daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Dowd, of Weraroa, was thrown to the ground and sustained a deep cut on her forehead. A woman. from a nearby house came to her assistance and a 'doctor was called. The girl, who was about 12 years of age, was, apart from the cut and a bad shaking, not severely injured, and was assistea to her home nearby. The vehicle was a brand new car, still with its demonstration registration plates, and was driven by Mr. Arthur Edward Clausen, of Palmerston North. He was returning to Palmerston North after taking delivery of the car, which he had just purchased, and was proceeding along the main highway in the vicinity of the Tararua Road level crossing when the accident cccurre'd. Except for the left-hand headlight, the car was not damaged.
