The company stated that congestion, labqur skortage and geneval stpw working conditions at New Zeqlapd ports had gradually grown in the last few niopths to a poiut where extrepic dehvys had been experienced. It ' was. impossible to eontinue New Zealand calls and still maiivtain a regular ser ' vice between the United States and Australia. If cireumstances improvedthe company would reconsider its de . cision. The freighters Sonoma, Sierva, Ventura and Alameda have maintained the Oceanio Steamship Company's ser vice to New Zealand on a two-monthlv basis for about a year. This voyage of the Alameda was avranged before th* company deeided to omit the Dominion call.
