They ar rived at tlie camp at uight in 20 motor cars and entered a tent where tw 1 white women instructors were sleeping. Tliey told tliem it was not proper for white women to be witliin the boundaries of the camp witli negro girls, and ordered them to get out of the town within 24 hours. The girl scouts' orgauisation iminediately cancelleil the camp. Mrs. Paui Rittenhouse, the national girl scou ihrector, said _l his- was done to safe guard the lives and p'foperty of " the students and instructors.
