ATTEMPT ON BANK SAFE AT NEWMARKET.

.AUCKLAND, June 14. Burglars early this morning biew a large hole in the door of a safe at the Newmarket branch of the Bank of Austraiasia but were unable to open the door. The cleaner arriving at 8 o.'clock found the premises full of smoke. The tiurglars gained' an entrance through the fanlight of the manager's office. Had they blown open the safe door Tliey would stili have had to open two steel compartments in oue of which there was a large aum of money.'
