CHRISTCHURCH, June 14. During tlie weekend thieves ripped Ihe top olT the safe in the laundry oftice of Tavlor's Christchurch Bagwasli ut 57 Kilmore Street, and eseaped with a haul believed to have been worth. about £170. Some of the money stolon from the safe represented national saviugs put away for members of tlie staff. Other money handed in by the drivcrs after their rounds on Saturday was also taken. The burglars made a choice from sonie of the cheques they found. The safe, whieh was 'a heavv one, was nianhandled out from the wall before the intruders foi-eed off the top with heavy instruments. The thieves carried out their work only a fcw feet from the footpath as the office opens directly on to Kilmore Street. It is not yet known how the thieves gained entry to the buildings.
