Burma's Leaders Want To Follow Russia
Received Monday, 10.10 a.m. RANGOON, June i3. Thakin Nu, who resigns as Prime Minister on July 30, told 10,000 members of the United Left Party that he would do his utmost to istablish economic and political relations with Russia. Although Burma was surrounded by nations within the AngloAmerican sphere of influence, he aid. its leaders wished to follow the Russian ideology. The party programme included the abolition of capitalism and the landlord system, State control of trade, the transfer of fiscal authority from London to Burma, the prevention of foreign aid impinging on her sovereignty, the propagation of Marxism and assistance for labour in fighting capital.
