Fines For Traffic Breaches
A charge of driving a motor vehicle at more than 40 m.p.h., v>-as preferred against Percy Powell Romeril, in the Magistrate's Court, Otaki, on Thursday, before Mr. H. J. Thompson, S.M. Romeril v/as flned £3 with 10s costs. The district transport officex, Inspector C. L. Davis, oaid that he had first noticed defendant's car travelling over the Otaki Bridge at a high speed. He had overtaken the ' car after. travelling behiner It from Otaki to Te Horo. Romeril had first said > that his speedometer was out of order, but later admitted that he had an appointment in Wellington. • Two cases of operating a motor vehicle without a warrant of frtness were also prosecuted by theTransport Department. Stephen John Watts .and William Robert Sims were both convicted and fined 10s, with costs. 10s in each case.
