The action of the Xew Zealand Golf Council in approving of 36-hole sennJinal and final matches in the Xorth Island championship tournament at Hamilton last weekend in preference to extending the match plav from 1(5 to 32 qualifiers was rilrongly criticised at a meeting of the Auckland Golf Association. "In view of the seleetion of the Xew Zealand team to tour Australia m the near future, everv opportuhity should have been provided for the men to prove their capacitv, " said the ehairman (Mr. W. S. Ralph). "Because of one bad turn many good players were unlucky to miss qualifying in the first 1(5." The association decided to inform the council of the need for a standard programme for so iinportant a tournament.
