A wholesale licence was granted to Waiter Buli, of Levin. An application filed by Waiter George Phillips was withdrawn. It was stated that the application was being filed in anticlpation of a possibie increase being allowed in the number of wholesale licences as _ a result of the reeent "Royal Commission, report. It was stated 'by chairman that Section 30 of the Licensing Act, 1910, provided for no new licences except when an existing one lapsed, 'or was forfeit>ed. Such not being the case, the committee had no option bfft to refuse the application. ' Appearing for the applicant, Mr. D. P. Todd said that his client was merely wishing to place an early request in order that he might obtain a priority should any alteration be made. The chairman suggested that as the committee had no option under the circum'stancbs but to refuse the application, the applicant^ might prefer to withdraw it, but it could be recorded as having been made.
