Gisborne Airfield Unusable For Some Months
GISBORNE, June 11. The flood-silted Gisborne aerodrome is not likely to be available for heavy airliners until February, though it is hoped that light aireraft may be able to use the field in a fortnight and small passenger planes, such as the Dominie, in two months. This information was given to the Chamber of Commerce by Mr. G. A. Nicholls, who said that National Airways had been refused a special Tail car to transport passengers to and from Napier, the present terminal. National Airwavs were investigating the possioilities of using light planes to carry air mails. , A committee was set up to interview the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, in Gisborne next week on ub.e question of laying down stabilFed runways.
