DANNEVIRKE, June 10. An opossum hunting trip in the Ruahine Ranges has resulted in the death of one of the participants, Bernard George Hosking, ageH 34, married with three children, whose home is at Featherston, but_ who was a sharemilker at Kiritaki. Accompanied by Mr. E. J. T. Flynn, aged 26, a farmer, of Martinborough, who was 011 a holiday with Hosking, they went into the mountains on Tuesday mornihg. Benighted, they used / alF their matches in endeayouring to get out, and could not light a' fire.. Hosking, unable to continue, was left as comfortable as possible by Flynn, who eventually got out of the bush at nine o'clock on Wednesday morning and reached a settler's house. A search party was organised and followed the trail blazed by Flynn on his way out. The party located Hosking, who had shifted from where he was left, at about 11 a.m. Hosking was dead.
