Australian Side Will Be Chosen From 13 Players
Received Thursday, 10.20 a.m. LONDON, June 9. Australia's team for the first Test will be chosen from the following 13 players:— Bradman, Brown, Morris, Baines, Miller, Hassett, Harvey, Tallon, Lindwall, Ring, Toshack, Ian Johnson and W. Johnston. The final selection will be announced shortly before the match begins. The English Test selectors tonight added George Pope, of Derbyshire, to the players from whom their Test side will be selected. The wicket is expected to be wet and the forecast is for rain. Douglas Wright, England's leg break bowler, has been receiving treatment for lumbago. He practised today and will have further treatment before gomg to Nottingham. The Australian opening batsman, Barnes, is nine lbs underweight after a week's illness with tood poisoning.
