In Happy Celebration
A very weli-attended function was held recently to celebrate the engagement of Peter, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Royal, to Betty Franklin, of Three Kings, Auckland. Held in the Raukawa Hall, Otaki, on Saturday night, the evening Look the form of a sociai and dancc. Music for the latter was supplied by a prof essipnal orchestra and items of an interesting and varied nature were giv.en by Misses K. Hakaraia and H. Davies, Mrs. Norrie. the Raukawa Maori girls and Messrs. Ron Burgess, Peter Royal and Vic Fraser (Wellington). •Mr'S. Royal, together with the happy couple, received the guests, while Mr. R. Carkeek was M.C., carrying out his duties in his usual ablp manner. A feature of the supper tabie was a particularly attractive engagement cake made by Mr. Royal. Musical honours were accorded the guests of honour, Mr. . and Mrs. Royal, while the cake' was being ,cut. The singmg of ' Auld Lang Syne brought to a close an evening which many will iong remember.
