Mr. E. Anderson, of Bartholomew Road, Levin, left for Auckland this wbek to rejoin the New Zealand Navy. I His Majesty the King has an- ! nounced the appointment of the ! Duke of Edinburgh as his personal ; A.D.C. from tomorrow, says a London cable. A London cable says that the committee of Lloyds announced today that Field Marshal Smuts had been unanimously elected an honorary member. The only other living honorary member is Mr. Winston Churchill. I Mr. R. Irving, of Bristol Street, Levin, has left to join the police force in Wellington. Also now serving in the Wellington police force is Mr. C. Anderson previously of Bartholomew Road, Levin, and Foxton, who is at Central Station. The Rev. Father M. A. Stennan, pari'sh priest at Upper Hutt, since 1935, will celebrate the silver jubilee of his ordination today. He was ordained at St. Kieran's, Kilkenny, Ireland, on June 10, 1923, and came to New Zealand at the' end of that year. He served in turn at Ohakune, Taihape, Eltham, Masterton, Westport, Foxton, and i Opunake and then at Upper Hutt.
