Library Improvement

Speaking at a rece'nt meeting of* the Shannon Borough Council, Cr. H. L. Norris, chairman of the library eommittee,. stated .that.. his eommittee had inspected a' number. of books offered for sale to the council. There were 100 books for sale, but in many cases they would be a duplication of those already in the library and so the eommittee had decided not to make an offer. It was resolved to thank the person for the -offer and convey the decision of the council. Cr. Norris stated that when the Mayor (Mr. D. A. Fitzgerald) returned from his present holiday, arrangements would be made to visit Otaki and inspect the public library system there, and also obtain further particulars regarding its operation. The Otaki town .clerk, Mr. Alex. Wilson had already 'furnished the library eommittee witn useful information, and after the visit a report on" how improvements to the Shannon Library could be made would be presented to the council.
