The Amalgantated. Engineering Unipn has summoued one of its members, Charles Hector Htanley, before a court of shop stewards i'or working two hours more than the maximum pennitted overtime. Ile did so in order that a ship which he was repairing might leave dock two davs earlier than would otherwise have, lieep possible, The vessel, the 54.70-ton Norfhleigh, was being overhauled in the Surrey docks, and Htanley found that by working two hours longer In-. could rolease the ship on Raturdav morning, "jnstead of its having to Wq.it until Mouday. He went ah'ead and finished the work, but was reported to the, union because he had already worked 12 hours ' overtime during the jreek. The case has arousod intorest because Mr. Herbert Morrison reeently gnve an assurance in the TTouse of Uommons that an inquirv would be held into restrictive practices bv unions.
