Methodist Youth Gathering In Otaki

Throughout New Zealand the Methodist Church takes adyantage of King's Birthday weekend to gather together its youth leaders for training. This year the Wellington District Youth Council held school at .the Wellington City Mission's permanent camp site atOtaki. Approximately 70 young people assembled on Friciay from the Wairarapa, the various suburb's of Wellington and from Levin. Their instruction took the form of tutorials, open forunis and discussion groups centred round the general theme of the responsibility of the Methodist Church within its own fellowship, the local community and the world. The Rev. John Grocott, "B.A., of Harori, acted as chairman. The iprincipal speakers were the Rev. Allon Carr, senior youth director, and the Rev. Charles O. Hailwood. of Feilding. On Sunday evening the "sphQoI.ers" worshipped with the Otaki Methodists, the preacher being Rev. Allon Carr. Summer and winter leadership schools are regular features of Methodist youth policy, and prove an intellectual and spiritual stimulus to all who attend.
