WELLINGTON, June 7. Canterbury beat Wellington 5 — 1 in the linal of the English Football Association trophv played on the Basin Reserve this afternoou. In an earlier game, the losers in the first round met, Auckland defeating Otago 5 — 1. A heavv south erly with iey squalls drenched the field wliich was treacherous underfoot. Canterbury deserved their win by the one goal margin and no more. They lasted the distance better. Wellington were on even ternis or in the lead for most of the game. When they finallv lost the lead they made some hard tries to recov'er but the winners had more in hand.
