WAR MEDALS AND STARS.
Eeplying to a question in the Coinnions by Sir lan Fraser, Mr. Attlee said that au early issue would be made in the United Kingdom and colonies of campaign stars, defence medals and vvar medals aAvarded for service during the Second World War. AJ1 persons c.onsidering themsclves entitled to these awards will be asked to apply on special postcards which will be on issue at all Post Oliiees. Approximately 20,000,000 persons in the United Ivingdom and colonies are eligible for the awards. Not all the 20,000,000 medals and stars have been minted but sufficient are now available to make an immcdiate issue. hlr. Attlee said that although this was done in the case of awards made for First World War service, it would not be possible to engrave tbe uames of recipients on the inack of the stars and tnedals.
