The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in which the British. Government is a large shareliolder, today announeed a jump in. prolits from £8,900,000 to £18,500,000. Owing to the dividend pegging agreement between the Government and Eederation of British Industries, the Anglo-Iranian stockhold-ei-s will receive no benefit but will be paid the 30 per cent. dividend they received last year. . Announcements o'f the company's record prolit caused considerable excitenient on the Stock Exchange and a rush for Anglo-Iranian shares. The British Government holds £11,250,000 wortli of the Anglo-Iranian Company's capital of just over £20,000,000. At the preseut valuation of shares the British Government 's holding is worth over £-100,000,000.
