Good Prices At Clearing Sale In Shannon
Buyer's from all parts of the d'is--trict were . present at a clbar-rfi|fv sale conducted by Messrs.1 A&rahani,' and Williams, Ltd., at Shannon on' Monday. The bidding was'kee.n for the selection of Jersey and ■ Jerseycross stock offered. " , . " ■ Prices, realised were as follows:— ' Dairy cows, due early July, £21, £20, £19, £17 10b, £15 down to £13-; 'due latef July-early August, £27 10s, £22, £20, £19 down to £12; due late August-early September, £14 down to £10. Late calvers realised from £10 down to £8, while empty cows brought £4 10s. A line of seven Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers sold at £12 each, six yearllngs brought £6 6s each and another line of six sold for £6 each. A flve-year-old bull sold for £11, while a three-year-old realised £18. Pigs: Sow to farrow, £3 10s; line of eight weaners, 14s each; line of weaners, 16s each; boar, £1 15s. Good prices were also realised for the sundries offered and some were as follows: — Ten star diotributor, £14 10s; tip dray, £14; hay mower, £5; harrows, £9 15s; three-cow milking plant, complete with 2 h.p. motor, £62; 75 gal. cream separator, with motor, £17; electric hoc water heater, £11; 100 ft. of half-inch piping and 100 ft. of f-inch, £4 the lot; 40 gal. milk vat, £1 10s; s-a-side. disc harrows, £5; hill-side plough, £2 10s;. roller, £9; -potato digger, £5. 150 bales oaten hay, 6s 3d per bale; 100 bales meadow hay, 5s 9d per bale; horse, £14. A 1938 12 h.p. sedan car was also also offered and bidding was brisk. The vehicle was finally knocked down at £510.
