After scrub'olng and drying deal tablecloths, chopping-boards, etc., rub them over with half a lemon. Allow this to dry. The effect of the bleach is excellent. much further if the following plan ing, dip a piece of flannel in ilneed oil and smear it lightly. over. \fterwards polish with chamois leather. A handful of soda dissolved in a hot bath is efficacious in banishlng! rheumatic pains from the back an'd j legs. 1 Butter for sandwiches will go much further if the following pian -is adopted: Pour a gill of boiling milk over half a pound of butter in a thick basin. After cooling slightly work these together with a wooden spoon until the mixture is the consistency of cream.
