Smuts Accepts Seat In Parliament
CAPETOWN, June 1. Field-Marshal Smuts, who was defeated at the election, has aciepted the offer of a seat in the South African Parliament from Mr. C. W. Clark, member for Pretoris East. This means that FieldMarshal Smuts will lead the Opposition in the new Parliament. The Nationalist leader, Dr. D. F. Malan, after an eleven-minute interview with' the GovernorGeneral, Major G. R. Vanzyl, in Pretoria, decided to form a Cabinet. Dr. Malan told correspondents: "South Africa is our own now and vill stay our own." Mr. Nicolas Havenga, leader of "he Afrikaner Party, and a likely ' -iefiTber of the 'new Ciovernment, ,aid: "We want to eo-operate with liiiain to achieve a peaceful revoution." _____
