Fine Round By E. H. Gray In Saturday's Golf

The outstanding feature of the weekend golf at Otaki was the splendid round played by E. H. Gray on Saturday. Playing in the first round of the Dovey D'Atn Memorial Cup, he defeated his opponent four and three, and completed the round in 67 strokss, c.compared with the course par of 72. His figures included six birdies, eieven bogies and cne hole of one over bogey. Ple has now been placed on a handicap of plus one. Results of the first round of the Dovey D'Ath competition were as follows: — P. O'Rourke beat L. G. Gimblett, W. Rzoska beat H. Derham, E. Jensen beat N. Gray, E. Gray beat E. B. Anderscn, B. Rhodes beat D. G. Sutherland. The first round of the Consolation Handicap, for players wno failed to qualify for the Dovey D'Ath, resulted as follows: D. Rarper beat J. Duncan, S. Eliiott beat P. Willis, D. G. Reid beat N. Wiiiis, K. Salmond beat R. Buxton, R. Knight beat H. Browne, B. Ryder beat A. Wilson. The annual open tournament will be played over the King's Birthaay Weekend, the.,-. qualifying round being played pn . Sunday( morning, the first round of the cliampiohship and' flights on Sunday afternoon, the semi-finals on Mona&y morning and the finals on Monday afternoon.
