! The May meeting of the Levin I Women's Institute was held in the j Od'dfellows' Hall, on May 5. Mrs. J Kellaway presided and there was a good attendance of members. An appeal from Corso for China was j discussed and it was decided to . take up a coin collection at the next meeting. Mesdames KellUway and Banfieid | were elected delegates to attend I the meeting cajled by the Mayor ! (Mr. H. B. Burdekin) in order to organise a local appeal in connection with the United Nations' Appeal for the starving children of Europe. Mrs. Dalton gave a demonstration on mop making. The competition for food for Britain, given by Mrs. Mitchell, was won by Mrs. Leach. Other competitions were: — Best bloom: Mrs. Hill 1, Mrs. Maugham 2, Mrs. Hatch 3. Best shrub: Mrs. Ban-. field 1, Mrs. Hatch 2, Mrs. Maugham 3, Tomato sauce: Mrs. Sharp 1, Mrs. Maugham 2. Mrs. Doyle judged. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses and the singing of the | National Anthem closed the meet- j ing.- The next meeting will be a social afternoon.
