Shannon R.S.A. Holds General Meeting

-The generat meeting of the Shannon branch of the Returned Services' Association was held in Laurvig's Hall on Saturday, May 8, Mr. B. Clayton presi'ding over an attendance of 13 members. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. R. Quinlaxi/ J-. Stevens and J. A. Reid. " Two members of the Shannon War Memorial • Hall Committee, Messrs. R. R. Lind and R.* Herbert addressed the meeting on the subject of the memorial hall. Messrs. B, Clayton and H. D. Aitchison were appomted to represent the R.S.A. at a meeting to be called in the near future. Replies for the questionnaire posted to all members resulted as follows, for Saturday 19,. for Wednesday 13, and those who would attend either night 18. Members are therefore a'dvised that generai meetings will be held on the second Saturday in each month at the same time and place as before. There will be no meeting on Wednesday, June 9. The next meeting will be heid on Saturday, June 12. LMoney taken at the Poppy Day Saies was £28 7s 3d. Anzac Day collectioh at.- the. Renown Theatre Was £15 ls '2d, and tliis amount plus the amount .of: £14 9s *2d donated by members was given to the Shannon R.S.A. Food for Britdin Fund. The secretary reported that an order. had been placed for 47 more parcels to be despatched to Britain.

; The following members were welcomed, Mr. T. W. Halliberton, from Whangarei, Mr. L. T. Dick from Wellington, Mr. L. P. Scwabei from Palmerston North, and Mr T W. Murray, from Dannevirke. • The secretary was instructed to write a letter of thanks to the Levin R.S.A. for the invitation. to meet the members of the R.S.S. and A.I.L.A. on Tuesday, May 4.' Twenty Shannon members had journeyed fo Levin and spent an enjoyable -evening.
