Followlng a discussion it was resolved to reply that the council could- not see its way clear to make a grant just now, but if the society's ftnancial .positlon warranted a grant, an application would receive consideration. Council News ' As no objections have been received to the council's proposed application to the Loans .Board to borrow £1500 for the purpose . of iaying 4-inch water malns along Clapham Street to Ballance Street an'd from Ballance Street to Vogel Street, in place of the present opeinch mains, the towti clerk w^s directed to prepare the application to the Loans Board and Cr. L. G. Sayer, chairman of the works committee is to prepare the plans and specifications "for the proposed work. .• '
