Delay In Carrying Out Death Penalty
LONDON, May 12. The British Press is giving publicity to tfie case of a 22-year-old German prisoner of war, Kar! Kneissier, who was sentenced to death by a Alilitary Oourt 011 January 17, for the niurder of a fellow prisoner and who has now been in the eondemned cell for four months awaiting execution. According to the Daily Express, Kneissier is nor affected by the abolition of the death penalty in Britain as he was sentencect by a Miiitary Court. The case has been reported in the German Press and has eaused considerable German criticism of British judieiai methods. The War Minister, Mr. Shinwell, was asked about the case two months ago in the Ooinmons, when he gave an assuranee that a decision would be reached soon.
