New Czech Constitution Patterned On Russia
Hostile Elements Suppressed Received Monday, 10.30 a.m, PRAGyE, May 9. ' The Czech parliament unanimously "passed its new co'p^ stitution. . Fifty-four deputies'were absent, over 20 of them having fled the couprty. Twelve. are in prison and another three are awaiting sentence on charges of conspiracy- against . the republic. • • The Prime Minister, M. Gottwald, said the new eopstitfitiop would pattern Czechoslovakia on Russia. The copstitution provides for a single chamber parliament with a lif'e of six years. The constitution decrees the establishment of a. "People's Democratic Republic deprived of hostile elements."
