Maori Dictionary To Be Reprinted Soon

WELLINGTON, May 8. First steps have been taken by the Polynesian Society to invite a committee to revi.se the out of print Willianis' Maori language dictionary ana arrange for another printing. The work of revision is regarded' as of equal importance to that involved in the revision of the Maori Bible and it is estimated that it will talce about two years to eomplete. , The committee which has been invited to revise the dictionary is as foilows: — Sir Apirana Ngata (president of the Polynesian Society), Messrs. William Cooper (Departrhent of Maori Affairs, Auckland), Raniera Kingi (Rotorua), Pei Te H. Jones (Taumarunui),- M. R. Jones (privatesecretary to the Minister in Charge of Maori Affairs, Wellington), Rongo Halbert (Gisborne), J. W. McEwen (Secretary toHhe Alaori Purposes Fund Board, Wellington). The last edition of the Williams Maori language dictionary was printed in England in 1917, and has been out of print for many years. The society is also ararnging for a selection • of notable eontributions to its journal to be reprinted in the English ana Maori languages.
