State Hause Ilold-up In reply to a letter from the Shannon Borough Council regarcLing the reason for the hold-up in construction of the State House units, Ballance Street, the 'district supervisor of the Department of C^onstruction, stated in a letter to the council that it appears that the present hold-up of construction work on the Shannon contract is due to the shortage of cement. The manufacturers of concrete roofing tiles,: to whom the roofs ' were allocated, have been short of cement for several weeks. The arrangements with them for the remaining two roofs has now peen cancelled and. the .roofs reallocatqd to aaaother firm in the hope that some time may be saved. £1500 Water Loan The town clerk, Mr. J. T. Bovis, reported to the Shannon BoroUgh Council at its meeting this week, that no objections were receive'd. to the council's public notice of the proposed application to the Local Government Loans Board for the sanction of borrowing £1500 for the purpose of laying four-inch water mains along Clapham Street to cfvl ? C4.e ^reefc and ^om Ballance Stieet to Vogel Street, in place of the present one-inch mains. On the motion of Cr. H. L. Norris seconded. by Cr. H.
